Lobster Place Wholesale Seafood is seeking a friendly, engaging, and detail-oriented Specialty Foods Account Manager to join our industry-leading sales team. Our Specialty Foods Account Manager provides personalized, relationship focused customer service to our key-customers – some of the best restaurants, caterers, hotels, and specialty retailers in the New York City region. In this role you will be a trusted resource to busy chefs and food purchasers offering detailed knowledge of our products and services; keen problem solving ability; and a strong desire to cultivate customer relationships in the fast-paced and exciting food business in NYC.

The Specialty Food Account Manager enjoys a hybrid work schedule that will mix work from home with field visits to customers and sales meetings in our Bronx offices.

About Us

Lobster Place Wholesale Seafood/Gourmet Cargo is the New York City Metro-region's leading purveyor of fresh, live, and frozen seafood and specialty food products to restaurants, hotels, caterers, cruise lines, and specialty retailers. Each day we source the finest fresh fish, live lobster, live shellfish, frozen seafood, and gourmet products from around the world, process them in a first-class distribution facility, and deliver to renowned kitchens and retailers throughout NYC and beyond.

Job Responsibilities

  • Act as a primary point of contact for assigned customer accounts, including the ability to be reached via e-mail, phone, or text until 10pm Monday through Friday.
  • Receive customer orders via phone, email, text and accurately enter them in the Seasoft computer system.
  • Anticipate potential issues and problems with customer orders and take independent action to prevent them.
  • Coordinate with Production, Purchasing, and Transportation teams to ensure accurate order fulfillment and timely delivery.
  • Maintain up to date product knowledge and expert comprehension of Lobster Place customer policies to deliver excellent service to customers.
  • Research and resolve customer inquiries, complaints, and requests in a timely and detailed fashion.
  • Execute customer outreach plans to promote products and services; identify and inquire about changes in customer ordering patterns.
  • Promote products and drive customer behavior to maximize the profitability of each delivery.
  • Maintain individual relationships with assigned key account decision makers; track those customer's purchasing habits; and proactively manage customer expectations.
  • Make frequent visits to assigned accounts to consult on current product availabilities.
  • Display and incorporate Lobster Place Core Values – Respect, Friendliness, Stewardship, Professionalism, Quality and Dedication – in every interaction.
  • Other duties, as requested and required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or similar experience.
  • 2 years' experience in the Food Service, Hospitality, Specialty Food, Seafood or Distribution Industries.
  • Comfortable in Sales settings – willing and able to reach out and form strong individual customer relationships.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to master the detailed characteristics of 300+ seafood and gourmet products.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Strong general computer skills and the ability to learn Seasoft ERP and other Web applications as necessary.
  • Spanish language skills a plus.

Pay and Benefits

  • Base salary $65K plus commissions (targeted at 15-25% of base salary)
